atelier cph is a copenhagen based artist-driven design studio established in 2012 by trend forecaster sara ingemann and art director mandy rep. atelier cph is a space for artistic expression and creative development. over the years, we have worked for various fashion, design and lifestyle brands doing all from trend research and concept styling to brand development and art direction. besides our client work, we create prints,sculptures and art work. this we do for atelier cph as well as commissioned work. we’re always searching for a new form of expression and therefor like to experiment with different techniques and materials. we have a high focus on tactility and quality and believe in long lasting design, which is something we strive to implement in every single piece we create.
the artists behind Atelier Cph
In April 2025, we moved into our new studio on Østerbro, a space that serves as both a creative workspace and a place for exhibitions and workshops, here we can share our process and invite others into our universe. In our atelier we develop collections, experiment with materials, and create artworks that reflect our shared vision. Starting Atelier Cph felt like a natural step, allowing us to combine our different academic backgrounds, creative strengths, and build a female-driven design studio. Mandy Rep studied graphic design and art direction at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. After working with design agencies around the world, she moved to Denmark, where her love for minimalistic design found a natural home in the Nordic aesthetic. Living close to nature continues to inspire her calm, tactile, and material-focused approach to design. Sara Ingemann brings a strong intuitive sense for emerging trends, aesthetics, and visual storytelling. With a background in Media & Communication from Malmö University, she worked with trend forecasting and concept styling for various brands. After living in New York, London, and Nanjing, she returned to Copenhagen, where meeting her Dutch creative partner became the starting point of Atelier Cph. Together, we run a studio where intuition meets research, craftsmanship, curiosity, with a focus on creating long-lasting design.
our work process
We mostly get inspired by the material itself and draw inspiration from the inherent qualities, textures, and potential of the material itself. Our design process is highly tactile and intuitive where shape will follow our research. Architecture is a great sources of inspiration too. It tells stories about time, place, and artistic movements. For many of the collections we are drawn to modern architecture of the 20th century, including De Stijl, Bauhaus, Brutalism, and Constructivism. These movements inspire us through their minimal yet expressive use of colour, shape, repetition and material. Art also plays a central role in our creative world. The quiet meditations of Agnes Martin, the organic forms of Jean Arp, and the bold experimentation of Picasso encouraging us to explore shape, texture, and abstraction in new ways. Besides looking up to the great modern artists of our time we love to be surprised by the unexpected inspiration, the one you suddenly run into on the street or a small vintage store. Inspiration can be found in leftover materials, a discarded object, or even a pipe found on the streets in Nørrebro that we used as inspiration for ceramic sculptures. We love discovering beauty in everyday life and turning it into something new.
